Students of University of the Assumption College of Computing Sciences and Information Technology (UA CCSIT) qualified to the championship round of Toro Inter-school IT Elite Challenge after winning in the qualifying round held at the UA Domus Mariae Coffee Shop on November 29.

Tristan Buan (BSIT 4) and Juan Franco (BSIT 3) outdid the representatives of other colleges and universities in the province in the Elite Back-end web developing category which qualifies them to compete in the finals.

Meanwhile, among the UA BSIT students who participated in the Elite Front-end category were John Gabriel Urbano, Pamela Toledo, Ivan Gonzales, Josef Sulit, Christian Jasper Macalino and Chrystelle Louis Jean Marido.

Dr. Joey Suba, CCSIT Dean said that the competition was an amazing experience for the students especially “when it comes to learning the techniques, strategies applied in web development and troubleshooting the machine problems that they (students) encountered,” for it exposes them to the actual industry-driven programming challenges. He also said that it is a good exposure as it prepares them to employment opportunities.

For the championship, Dean Suba said that they will have an intensive review. “I, as the coach along with the co-coach, Mr. Lester Loyola will intensify the training of the students,” he said.

The Toro Inter-school IT Elite Challenge championship will be joined by thirty-five schools from Central Luzon with two hundred twenty-two participating teams.
